The admissions process at Southern Medical College & Hospital is as follows:
National Students:

• Prospectuses and application forms will be available from the college office between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm (as determined by DGHS) for a fee of Tk. 1000.
• The completed application form must be dropped off within business hours on the latest date specified by DGHS.
• The application must be filed with the following documents:
• a certified copy of the SSC certificate and mark sheet, or a copy of the certificate and mark sheet from an equivalent exam.
• a certified copy of the H.S.C. certificate and mark sheet, or a copy of the certificate and mark sheet from a comparable exam from a different board.
• a certified photocopy of the headmaster’s testimonial.
• a certified photocopy of the college principal’s testimonial.
• Three colored stamp-sized photos and four passport-sized (attested) photos.
• receipt of the application fee.
• Character certificate from a Class I Gazetted Officer of the Government.
• certificate attesting to the parents’ or guardians’ financial stability.
• Certificate of Nationality.
• At the time of admission, original copies of the aforementioned documents must be shown. Enrollment in the Course:
• In order to be admitted, chosen applicants must appear at the college administration at the designated time and date.
• Candidates on the waiting list will fill the open seats (in case the selected candidates are not admitted within the specified day and time).

International Students:

• According to the guidelines, up to 50% of the seats may be filled by foreign students.
• Permission from their respective governments will be required of the students.
• The following requirements must be met by interested candidates to be admitted.
  • Candidates must have completed qualifying exams, such as the 12th grade (10+2=12 years) at a public school, board, or college, or passed an exam in another nation that the Bangladeshi government has approved as being on par with the Higher Secondary Certificate Examination.
  • Candidates must be majoring in or required to take Physics, Chemistry, and Biology and have passed the Higher Secondary Certificate Examination or its equivalent.
  • In the Secondary School Certificate and Higher Secondary Certificate exams, applicants must have received at least 75% of the possible points (equivalent to a GPA of 4.0 or an equivalent grade; a “B” in an A-level or O-level exam) and at least 65% of the possible points in each of these exams separately (equivalent to a GPA of 3.50 or a “C” grade). Only the top six topics based on marks and grades will be taken into consideration in the event of an O-level exam. In the event of an A-level exam, grades and marks in biology, chemistry, and physics will be taken into account.
• All academic credentials must be converted to Bangladeshi standards (using a set of DGHS Dhaka, Bangladesh Equivalency Certificates) and student visa requirements must be completed through the Bangladeshi embassy.
• Applications must be submitted using the forms specified by SMCH. The application must be submitted with attestation copies of any certificates, mark sheets, etc. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the applicant’s academic institution in each country must attest all certificates and grade reports. In the absence of such attestation, no application will be accepted.
• Upon acceptance, successful candidates will need to present all authentic academic transcripts and certificates.
